Cristianos de la Montana = Mountain Christian

From Rob Powell's Facebook

Robert Powell Last day in Sucre. Leaving for La Paz tomorrow. Yesterday I saw poverty like never before. There is so much need it is overwhelming. On another note, Food for the Hungry is doing an amazing job in Bolivia...very impressed.

"As far as heaven's sky do you see, but never see what lies behind; as far as heaven's sky reaches your thought, and never seeks to penetrate beyond. O ignorance, hard and dry, who shall tell you of things that have no words for the telling?  Poor, unhappy mankind, who shall rescue you?  What have you of your own but your own soul?  Do not, I beseech you, barter that one and only reality of things of naught.  Think, think on death!  Then shall pleasure and jest, lust and luxury, have fallen silent; then shall the body lie rotting in the clay.  Shall then the soul, too, dwell in misery, delivered to torment without end?  Better of a truth, patient endurance of one hour here on earth than an awakening to pain that comes too late and lasts for all eternity!"
Columban, 481

Today (Tues. June 30) is our fun day! we are all very excited cuz we are going to the dinosaur park and shopping at the outdoor market.  yay! we have been working very hard! the foundation for the latrine is coming along slowly, but surely! we wont have it finished by we leave, but we are confident that FH and the people of horno ckasa will see it done. the home visits were amazing for everyone. Marvin says his sponser kid is trying to control his life, and its probably true- much to the amusement of us all. Zack and Daniel both decided to start sponsering kids and went to visit them and were both very touched by the experience. Tomorrow morning we fly back to Sucre and some people are going to another FH meeting, however, we were given the option of shopping. i, personally, am going shopping. :) After a night in Sucre, we board a VERY early flight to Miami. Miami to Dallas... and then we´ll see you at home in Albuquerque!!! What a great and fantastic trip. God is really evident here, and we are all going to be sad to leave. Keep praying for the people of Horno Ckasa, they keep telling us they dont want MCC to forget them. I think the most valuble thing we have done on this trip is given these people our time. and what a blessing it was for them and us!

FIRST POST FROM MARVIN PROCTER IN SUCRE, BOLIVIA

Wow. Picture El Paso at an elevation of 14000 feet and you have La Paz. The team finally made it to Sucre after lots of flying....lots of waiting....and lots of immigration paperwork.... and almost no sleeping. Did I mention the turbulence?  Had breakfast in La Paz with Joel, Juan and Oscar from FH. Drank great tea that counter acts the effects of the altitude.
We get to rest for a while this morning and then comes orientation, Bible training and an over view of the work here. Hopefully lunch is planned in there somewhere. :)
Everyone is excited and having fun. Thanks to all of you back home who are praying....and thanks for sending us.
